Bob Godfrey spent over 60 years of his life building model airplanes—life-long fascination of flight. He is known for his work creating reduced scale aircraft designs based off of full sized aerobatic aircraft.
In 1982, Precision Aviation Design was founded. In that year, Bob Godfrey build a 1/3 scale Laser 200 for a pilot competing in the Las Vegas Tournament of Champions. That aircraft, built from Wayne Ulrey’s drawings, was so successful that it became the impetus for most of today’s large scale aircraft and began a large scale legacy that has lasted over 20 years.
Precision construction was valued so highly in Bob’s models that he offered his planes to pilots already assembled – he called them “built in the bones” – a phrase he coined, meaning ready to cover and install the engine and radio.
