Bob Godfrey's
PRECISION AVIATION DESIGN
HOME / HISTORY
WELCOME  TO
Bob Godfrey spent over 60 years of his life building model airplanes-- life-long fascination of flight. He is known for his work creating reduced scale aircraft designs based off of full sized aerobatic aircraft.

In 1982, Precision Aviation Design was founded.  In that year, Bob Godfrey built a 1/3 scale Laser 200 for a pilot competing in the Las Vegas Tournament of Champions.  That aircraft, built from Wayne Ulrey's drawings, was so successful that it became the impetus for most of today's large scale aircraft and began a large scale legacy that has lasted over 20 years.

Precision construction was valued so highly in Bob's models that he offered his planes to pilots already assembled - he called them "built in the bones" - a phrase he coined, meaning ready to cover and install the engine and radio.

Bob was the first to create a two piece cowl which gives pilots access to the engine compartment without having to remove the spinner and propeller.

As the engines grew larger, he chose new construction methods and new materials which increased strength and stability and lightened the overall weight.

Bob even had a flying model of a full-scale Ultimate 10-300 completed before pilot/designer  Gordon Price finished full-scale construction, this was so Bob could assist Gordon with the exact stabilizer placement needed on the full scale plane.

Robert Godfrey, Bob's son joined Precision Aviation Design in 1986, beginning a 19 year  father / son partnership that would add new dimensions to model aircraft design.  Robert introduced wood cutting CNC routers to add precision, strength and construction , new models of different sizes, prices and innovative new design techniques which quickly became hallmarks of this Florida-based model aircraft manufacturer.

Precision Aviations' award winning designs include:
Extra 300, 300S, 300L and 330,
Laser,
Davis Acro Pro1,
Ultimate 10-300,
Edge 540T
One Design
Giles 202
Pro Foam Series

Bob has designed the planes that win championships and are fun to fly.  Robert has made them affordable and easy to build so you can be proud to say, "I BUILT IT MYSELF".
